History of Centre for Strategic Studies – Trincomalee
Research. Outreach. Events.
The Centre for Strategic Studies — Trincomalee was launched in 2018 and strives to be a non-profit and non-partisan institution. The decision to launch it in Trincomalee is because of the area’s strategic importance. After all, Trincomalee has been a contested site for centuries. During the American Revolutionary War, the Battle of Trincomalee was fought off its coast. The Trincomalee Garrison has been occupied by the Portuguese, Dutch, French, and British. During World War II, the East Indies Station was moved to Trincomalee after the fall of Singapore.
The institution has been incorporated under the laws of Sri Lanka. The political analyst, Mr. A. Jathindra, is the founder of the institution.
